MEET CHLOË ESTER

"Sometimes you’re in the mood for that mysterious alchemy of nostalgia and masochism that drives you to read your high school journal entries, love letters from exes, or hometown obituaries—searching for a good kind of sadness, a pain that reminds you of how precious and fleeting this life can be. And along comes Chloë Ester."

Chloë Ester is an alternative indie rock artist based in Charlottesville, VA, whose sound melts bubblegrunge, shoegaze, and alternative rock into something unmistakably her own. Her music lives in contrasts—delicate yet unflinching, intimate yet cutting—driven by a clear, magnetic voice and vivid lyrics that confront fear, trauma, love, and its absence with blistering directness. Often described as introspective, cynical, dark, and laced with sharp sarcasm, her songs don’t just invite listeners in—they hold them there.

A seasoned performer with over a decade on local stages, Chloë Ester has honed a live set that hits with equal parts grit and vulnerability. Her performances balance raw emotional weight with dynamic, full-band energy, making her equally at home in intimate rooms and higher-energy late-night lineups.

Chloë Ester recently completed a 10-day, multi-state tour in support of her latest single, “Push/Pull,” a track praised by Griffin Smalley of RVA Mag for its rich songwriting and seamless blend of singer-songwriter intimacy and indie rock edge. With an upcoming full-length album, I Could Be The One, slated for release in fall 2026, Chloë Ester continues to build momentum with material that expands her sonic palette while staying rooted in emotional authenticity.

Her debut EP, Dying All The Time (2020), established her as a genre-fluid storyteller, weaving together layered instrumentation and shifting textures that feel both expansive and deeply personal. The project’s balance of softness and strength still defines her work today: songs that swell, recede, and breathe—never predictable, always affecting.
